Massage sessions at MotherHand Therapeutics are offered in one-hour or two-hour increments, allowing ample time to slow down, settle in, and address your individual needs without rushing.

Every session is collaborative and client-centered. Your goals, comfort level, and where you are landing that particular day guide the work. It is never a one-size-fits-all approach—it is always a conversation.

What we offer: Services
MotherHand Therapeutics is a small manual therapy practice offering therapeutic massage,
along with a handful of techniques including fascial release techniques, craniosacral therapy
and supportive lifestyle or physical rehab advice.
The general focus is on Swedish Massage, the pillar of classic massage in North America. Its
emphasis lies in easing muscle tension - working out the knots -, encouraging circulation to
repair damage and rejuvenate tissues, soothing the nervous system and allowing for a calmer
state of being. The key with this type of massage is knowing how much pressure to use,
allowing for a meaningful and satisfying treatment, not one that is too painful and leaves you
sore. Every body is different and pressure is subjective.
Fascial release techniques used are more gentle, longer held and with the intention of letting the
fascia - tough connective tissue throughout the body that responds to overuse, postural
dysfunction, injury and physical/emotional trauma - to let go on its own time. These are
wonderful techniques to add to a massage treatment because often the issue is not the muscle
itself, it's the connective tissue supporting and surrounding it.
Craniosacral therapy is a beautiful, gentle and versatile modality that works with the
craniosacral system - a collection of the physical structures, physiological rhythms and the
energetic processes - of the body. Assessment points throughout the entire body are used with
treatment moving through the head, spine, sacrum and all the bits and pieces in between. It is
gentle, slow and useful for concussions, migraines, nervous system dysfunction,
physical/emotional trauma, general maintenance...many, many things.
Pregnancy Massage. It takes a village, and a massage therapist. Pregnancy is an amazing and
exciting time. It can also be uncomfortable and stressful. Massage is a useful tool to ease the
sore lower back and swollen ankles often associated with this time, but also the anticipation of a
new life and the changes ahead. A pregnancy pillow is used, so laying facedown is an option.
No tools are used. No cups, no guasha. Old school.
Any body can and does benefit from massage, from the overworked and worn out, the athlete
deep in training or the new mom facing sleepless nights.

returning people.
To book, simply reach out via phone (text or call) or email. All attempts to get
you a timely spot will be taken.
A note on direct billing and insurance:
Your insurance coverage is not accessible to anyone but you, therefore what can or will be covered can only be investigated by you, not a service provider.
As well, some insurers require doctors notes for direct billing, or simply do not permit direct billing.
Secondary insurers may not allow direct billing. It is best to check with your
insurance company prior to your appointment if you are unsure. A receipt is always issued at the end of treatment for self submitting.
Your appointment time is reserved for you, if in the event you cannot make it to your
appointment, a respectful amount of notice is asked of you.

About
What began as an attached garage filled with mismatched doors and rusted tools quietly evolved into a healing studio when I purchased my home in 2017. Through years of personal growth, professional experience, and deep listening, MotherHand Therapeutics took form.
I have witnessed firsthand how massage therapy and bodywork are often inaccessible to those who need it most—or delivered in ways that forget the most important element: the person. MotherHand Therapeutics was created to be different. It is a practice rooted in compassion, presence, and respect, offering therapeutic massage and holistic bodywork that truly centers the individual.

Working independently allows me to offer care without upselling, quotas, or in-house referral pressures. It means each session is guided intuitively and creatively, shaped by your needs in the moment, while grounded in over two decades of education and hands-on experience. Independence, freedom, and ensuring people are genuinely well cared for are the core values of MotherHand.
My foundational training is in Swedish massage therapy, recognized by insurance companies, and I have over a decade of experience working with Veterans Affairs Canada.
Outside the treatment room, I am a mother, grandmother, and devoted dog-mother—and I try to knit when time allows.

The Meaning Behind MotherHand Therapeutics
During my massage training 24 years ago, one of my teachers introduced the concept of the Mother Hand. It is a gentle, passive approach in which two hands remain on the client at all times. One hand is the working hand, offering active therapeutic contact. The other is the supportive hand—present, steady, and soothing.
Because the mind expects the presence of two hands, feeling only one can keep the subconscious slightly alert. The Mother Hand reassures the nervous system, quieting that internal searching and allowing the body to settle into deeper states of relaxation, safety, and ease.
This philosophy became the heart of my practice—and the name.
